Poor Cristina drove through the rain and hairpin bends until we arrived at Stresa. The address that was given for the hotel was not in all it's entirety and so our GPS couldn't locate 'Piazza Cadorna' because in fact it was 'Piazza Luigi Cadorna'...so we were going up and down the mountain trying to find it. I tried to find it using my own phone that had begun to work again miraculously. At one point our gps was telling us to go in one direction and my phone in the other...then Cristina remembered that it was near the traghetto and so we found it...soaked through to the skin but we found it...
We needed to park the car and the hotel porter claimed that we hadn't parked close enough to the wall. When we asked him to park it for us, he replied, "I don't drive an automatic car"! When I replied and said that it's easier to drive an automatic car he asked me how many pedals it has and I replied that it has 2 and he said that he could only handle a car with 3 pedals...so Cristina sat in the driver's seat and used the accelerator and brake whilst he steered through the window...go figure!!!
A lovely meal at Lombarda in Stresa
